Despite the fact it's just after midnight...

I'll write something.

Over the past week I've been pre-occupied with a few things (in no particular order):

  1. Killzone 2
  2. Street Fighter 4
  3. Thoughts of Japan
  4. Oil Sands Upgrading
  5. Oil Sands Extraction

So of my "most thought of thoughts" over the past week, 3 are good, the rest being unfortunate responsibilities.  I say unfortunate because if neither of these two courses were graded, I'd still attend them.  Not only do we have some great profs, but I think understanding how the energy sector actually operates is hugely important.  There is so much mis-information fed by the media about oil sands, the environment and the entire oil and gas industry that sometimes I just have to shake my head.  Take for example a couple of those environmental groups (ie: Greenpeace).  Do they seriously believe that their lobbying against the oil sands in the USA will help Alberta/the world?  Yeah, way to try to knock down one of the pillars of the Alberta economy, unemploying thousands of people, all in the name of saving some ducks.

Oil sands are composed of bitumen, sand, clays and water.
